Fill out a Florida bill of sale (HSMV 82050) on your phone
Form HSMV 82050 does two jobs in Florida. As a Notice of Sale it tells the state that the seller no longer owns the vehicle, which protects the seller from tolls, tickets and liability after the sale. As a Bill of Sale it documents the price, the odometer reading and both parties for the buyer's title transfer. The seller files the notice with the county tax collector within 30 days.

The fields that matter
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Vehicle, mobile home or vessel description | Year, make or manufacturer, body type, model, color, and the full VIN or hull identification number. For a vessel, the registration number and title number. |
| Notice of sale (seller) | Seller's name, address, the date sold and the purchaser's name and address, with the seller's signature. This is the part the tax collector records. |
| Bill of sale | Purchaser's full name and address, the selling price, the date, and the seller's and purchaser's signatures and printed names. |
| Odometer disclosure | For a motor vehicle: the odometer reading at the time of sale, whether it reflects actual mileage, is in excess of mechanical limits, or is not the actual mileage. Both parties sign the disclosure. |
| Co-owners | Where the title lists two owners joined by 'and', both sellers sign. If joined by 'or', either may sign. |
How to fill out the HSMV 82050 in FormFill
- Get the official PDF onto your phone. Tap the agency link above and save the PDF (on iPhone, Share, then Save to Files; on Android it lands in Downloads). Only use the agency's own copy: the form changes, and an old revision can be rejected.
- Import it into FormFill. Open FormFill and tap Import PDF, then pick the file. FormFill writes on top of the page, so it does not matter whether the PDF has fillable fields or is a flat scan.
- Fill the fields. Tap Text, then tap where an answer belongs and type it. Drag to move, pull a corner to resize. Use Check for the checkboxes and Date where a date is asked for. Pinch to zoom on the small boxes.
- Sign it. Tap Sign to draw your signature (or reuse a saved one with Pro) and place it on the signature line, not on the printed-name line. Initials covers any initial boxes.
- Finish and send. Tap Done. FormFill flattens your entries into the PDF and offers Share a copy or Save to device. Open the exported file once before you send it.
On this form: Type the vehicle details once and the price and date in the bill of sale block. Use Check on the odometer statement that applies and type the reading without tenths. Both the seller and the buyer need to sign: pass the phone, or have each party add a Sign signature in their own copy before you merge the paperwork at the tax collector.
Mistakes to avoid
- Mileage must be written without tenths of a mile and must match what is written on the title.
- The seller's notice is only effective once the tax collector receives it; keep the stamped receipt.
- Florida does not require notarization of HSMV 82050, but the buyer's title application must still be submitted with the signed-off title, not just this form.
- If the vehicle is being sold 'as is', say so on the form; Florida has no cooling-off period for private sales.

No. Signatures of the seller and purchaser are enough; the form carries no notary block.

At any Florida county tax collector's office or license plate agency, within 30 days of the sale. Some counties accept it online; check your county tax collector's site.
