How to make your prayer list
- Type one request a line. A name alone is enough. Put the name first and a dash after it, Ruth - chemo starts this month, and the name prints in bold.
- Pick the kind of list. Weekly spreads a long list over seven days. Daily puts every name on every day with a box to tick. Small group is a request sheet for a meeting. 30 days gives one focus a day for a month.
- Add a title and a start date if you want them. Under More options. Without a date the sheet is a template you can print again every week.
- Print or save a PDF. In the print dialog set margins to None and scale to 100%, and turn on background graphics for the Vellum and Index card styles. To keep a PDF, choose Save as PDF as the printer.
The four prayer list layouts
| Layout | What is on the page | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Weekly | A box for each day of the week and one for answered prayers. Your requests are dealt out in turn, a few each day. | A long personal or family list you want to pray through every week without it taking an hour a day. |
| Daily | One row per request, seven tick boxes across. | A short list you pray every day: family, close friends, your own needs. |
| Small group | Name, request, date shared, and an answered column with room for how and when, plus empty rows. | A Bible study, a home group, a church prayer chain, a prayer meeting sign-in sheet. |
| 30 days | Days 1 to 30, each with its request and a box to tick. | A month of praying for one person or church, a 30-day challenge, Lent or Advent. |
Not sure what to put on the list? Ten prayer list examples (personal, family, small group, church, for a friend who is ill, for kids, a 30-day list and a weekday rotation), each one ready to print here.
Keep the list on your phone. Paper is good for the fridge door and the meeting. Knelt is a private prayer journal and prayer list app: add a request in one line, and it builds today's list from your list's rhythm, walks you through it one prayer at a time, reminds you at the time you choose, and keeps a dated record of what was answered. No account. A small group can share one list by join code.
Questions
Is this prayer list template free?
Yes. It runs in your browser, there is no sign-up, and nothing you type is sent anywhere. Print or save as many lists as you like.
How do I save my prayer list as a PDF?
Press Print or save as PDF, then choose Save as PDF as the printer in the print dialog. Set margins to None and scale to 100% so the sheet keeps its layout.
What is the difference between the weekly and the daily list?
The weekly list deals your requests out across the seven days, a few each day, so a long list is prayed through once a week. The daily grid puts every request on every day with a box to tick. The Knelt app does the same thing with a list's rhythm: every day, chosen weekdays, or a few a day in rotation.
Can I use it for a small group or church?
Yes. The small-group sheet has columns for the name, the request, the date it was shared and how and when it was answered, plus empty rows to write in new requests at the meeting. How to run a small-group prayer list.
Can I add Bible verses?
End a line with a reference in parentheses, such as (Phil 4:6), and it prints after the request in italic. Turn it off under More options.
The sheet prints small, or the colours are missing.
Set scale to 100% and margins to None, and turn on Background graphics (Chrome) or Print backgrounds (Safari, Firefox). Choose the same paper size here as in the dialog.
