Track Protein. Not Everything Else.
Protein Only is a protein tracker with exactly one number: grams so far against your daily goal, on a dial you can read in a second. Log by tapping yesterday's favorite, typing grams, scanning a barcode, or photographing your plate. No calorie counting, no macro spreadsheet, no food-diary guilt.
What it does:
- One big dial — grams logged, grams to go, at a glance
- Two-tap logging from favorites and a built-in common-foods list
- Barcode scanning for packaged food, with a portion picker
- AI photo estimates that give a range you confirm, never a fake decimal
- Streaks, history, home-screen widgets, and an optional fiber track
The whole app
140 g goal.
82 g in. 58 to go.
Open, glance, log in two taps, close.
- Protein only — no calories, no diary
- Favorites, quick-add, barcode, photo
- Optional second ring for fiber
- Your entries stay on your phone
How It Works
One dial, one number
The home screen is the ring: grams so far, your goal, and how much is left. It fills as you log, and that satisfying close is the entire reward loop. Today's entries sit underneath, each one editable.
Favorites first
Most people eat the same twelve things. Yesterday's chicken bowl, your usual shake, the yoghurt you buy every week — one tap re-logs any of them, which is why the whole thing takes seconds rather than minutes.
Quick-add and barcodes
Know the number? Type the grams. Don't? Pick from the bundled common-foods list, or scan the barcode — Protein Only looks it up in the Open Food Facts database and gives you a portion picker.
Photo estimates, honestly labelled
Snap the plate and an AI estimate comes back as a likely figure with a low and high range, not a false decimal. Nudge the slider, confirm, and it saves — the number you keep is one you agreed with.
A goal that fits you
Set your target in grams, or work it out from body weight with grams-per-kilogram presets — a muscle-protection range for people on GLP-1 medications, a higher one for lifting. Planning guidance to start from, not a prescription.
Streaks worth protecting
A calendar heat view, rolling 7- and 30-day averages, and a goal streak. Add the home-screen widget and the ring is there without opening anything, with quick-add one tap away.
Built For One Job
Full nutrition apps make you track everything to learn one thing. If your job is enough protein — because you are on a GLP-1 medication and want to protect muscle while your appetite is down, or because you lift and everything else takes care of itself — then a diary that demands calories, carbs, and fat for every bite is a tax you will stop paying by week three.
Protein Only asks for one number and makes it fast to give. Nothing moralises about what you ate, nothing turns red, and there is no report card. An optional fiber track adds a second thin ring if you want it, and stays off if you don't.

What is Protein Only?
Protein Only is a protein tracker for iPhone and Android from Adelyons Software LLC that deliberately tracks one metric. A single dial shows grams of protein logged today against your daily goal, and logging is built to take two taps — a favorite, a typed number, a barcode, or a photo of your plate.
It exists for people who want to track protein without calorie counting. That includes people on GLP-1 medications, whose appetite drops enough that hitting a protein target takes attention, and lifters who already know the rest of their diet works. Set the goal in grams, or compute it from body weight using common grams-per-kilogram ranges.
Your entries live on your device — no account, no sync. Two features reach the network when you use them: a photo estimate sends that photo to Google's Gemini model for processing, and a barcode scan looks the code up in the Open Food Facts database. Both are explained in the Privacy Policy.
Frequently asked questions
Does Protein Only count calories?
No, and that is the point. Protein Only tracks protein in grams and nothing else — no calories, no other macros, no full food diary. There is an optional fiber track you can switch on if you want a second number, and it is off by default.
How do I log protein?
Four ways, fastest first. Re-tap a favorite you have logged before, type the grams directly or pick from a built-in common-foods list, scan a barcode to look up the protein per serving, or photograph your plate for an AI estimate you confirm before it saves. Most logs take two taps.
How does the photo estimate work?
You take a photo of your meal and it is sent to Google's Gemini model, which returns a likely protein figure with a low and high range. You adjust the slider if it looks off and confirm before anything is saved, so the number you keep is one you agreed with. It is an estimate, not a measurement.
How much protein should I eat?
Protein Only lets you set a goal in grams directly, or calculate one from your body weight using common grams-per-kilogram ranges — for example a muscle-protection range often cited for people on GLP-1 medications, and a higher range for active training. These are planning presets to start from, not medical advice; if you have a health condition or take medication, ask your doctor or dietitian what target is right for you.
Is Protein Only good for GLP-1 users?
It is built with that job in mind. On GLP-1 medications appetite drops sharply and protein intake is easy to miss, so a single visible number is more useful than a full diary you will abandon. Protein Only gives you one dial, quick logging, and an optional fiber track — as a tracking tool, not as treatment or medical guidance.
Where is my data stored?
On your device. Your entries, goal, favorites, and history are stored locally and there is no account and no cloud sync. The exceptions are the network features you choose to use: a photo estimate sends that photo to Google for processing, and a barcode scan looks the code up in the Open Food Facts database.
Is Protein Only available on iPhone and Android?
Protein Only is built for both iOS and Android and will be available on the App Store and Google Play at launch.
How much does Protein Only cost?
Manual logging is free forever — favorites, quick-add, barcode scanning, the dial, streaks, a week of history, and five AI photo estimates to try. Protein Only Pro unlocks unlimited photo estimates, full history and the calendar heat view, home-screen widgets, the fiber track, and reminder customization. Pro is offered as an annual plan that starts with a 7-day free trial, a monthly plan, or a one-time Lifetime purchase. Prices are shown in the app at the time of purchase and may vary by region.
Private — Your Log Stays On Your Phone
Protein Only is built local-first, and it is specific about the two things that use the network. Here's exactly how it works:
- No account, no cloud sync. You don't sign up or log in. Entries, goal, favorites, streaks, and history are stored on your device.
- Photo estimates are transient. When you choose a photo estimate, that photo is sent to Google's Gemini model, via Firebase AI Logic, and the estimate comes back to your phone. We run no server and keep no copy of your photos. Photos you never estimate are never sent anywhere.
- Barcode lookups are anonymous. Scanning sends only the barcode number to Open Food Facts, an open food database, to get the protein per serving. No personal data goes with it, and previously scanned items are cached on the device.
- One billing helper. Purchase and subscription data is handled by Apple, Google, and RevenueCat to validate Protein Only Pro. They never receive your food log.
- No ads and no tracking. Protein Only contains no advertising, does not track what you eat, and has no social or sharing features.
