Privacy Policy

The short version: Protein Only has no account and no cloud sync. Your entries, goal, favorites, and history are stored on your device. Two features use the network, and only when you use them: an AI photo estimate sends that photo to Google's Gemini model for processing, and a barcode scan sends only the barcode number to Open Food Facts. We operate no server that stores your photos or your food log.

1. Who we are

Protein Only is published by Adelyons Software LLC ("we", "us"). You can reach us at dev@adelyons.com.

2. What stays on your device

Protein Only has no account system, so there is nothing for us to attach data to. The following are stored only on your phone and are never transmitted to us:

Every entry you log, with its grams, time, and source
Your daily goal, and the body weight or grams-per-kilogram setting if you used the calculator
Your favorites, streaks, history, and calendar
Your fiber-track, reminder, and widget settings, and your free photo-estimate counter

There is no sign-up, no login, and no profile. Because we never receive this data, there is no account for you to delete and no server-side copy for us to erase.

3. AI photo estimates — what leaves your phone

When you choose a photo estimate, and only then, the photo you selected is transmitted for AI processing. The estimated protein figure and its range come back to your device, where you confirm or adjust it before anything is saved.

Who processes it. Estimates are produced by Google's Gemini model. Your request travels from your device to a function we operate on Supabase, which forwards it to Google and returns the result to your phone.
What we keep. No content. We hold no copy of your photos or estimates — the processing is transient. To prevent abuse of the AI service, our function records a random install identifier and a monthly count of estimates; that counter contains no photos or food data and is not linked to your identity.
What is sent. Only the photo you chose for that estimate. Other photos on your device, your food log, your goal, and your history are never uploaded.
No identity attached. There is no account, so requests carry no name, email, or profile of yours — only the random install identifier described above, which identifies a copy of the app, not you.
Google's handling. Google processes the request as a service provider under its own terms and may retain data briefly for abuse prevention and service operation. See Google's Privacy Policy.

Photo estimates are optional. Favorites, quick-add, and manual logging never touch the network.

4. Barcode lookups

When you scan a barcode, Protein Only sends only the barcode number to Open Food Facts, a free and open community food database, and receives the product's nutrition values in return. No personal data, device identifier, or account information is sent with the lookup, because there is none to send. Products you have already scanned are cached on your device so repeat scans work offline. Open Food Facts operates its own service under its own privacy policy.

5. Purchases

If you buy Protein Only Pro, the purchase is processed by Apple or Google and validated through RevenueCat, Inc. To do this, a purchase record and an anonymous app-instance identifier are shared with those providers. This data is used only to verify your purchase and is not linked to your identity by us. We never send them your food log. See RevenueCat's privacy policy, and Apple's or Google's, for how they handle purchase data.

6. Health data

Protein Only does not connect to Apple Health or Google Fit and does not read or write health data on your device. Your body weight, if you enter it for the goal calculator, is stored locally like any other setting and is never transmitted.

7. Device permissions

Camera — used only when you take a photo for an estimate or scan a barcode. Barcode decoding happens on the device.
Photos — used only if you choose an existing photo for an estimate.
Notifications — optional, for the local reminders you turn on. Reminder content is generated and shown on the device.

You can grant or revoke these permissions anytime in your device settings.

8. Analytics and tracking

Protein Only does not track you and contains no advertising. We do not collect analytics about what you eat, we have no social or sharing features, and we do not sell or share personal information.

9. Children

Protein Only is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Your control

Deleting an entry removes it from your device, and uninstalling the app removes all of its on-device data. The small amount of off-device data described above — the purchase record and the anonymous usage counter — can be deleted on request: see our data deletion page. If you would rather no photo were ever transmitted, simply do not use the photo estimate — every other logging path works without it.

11. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time, including if we change AI or food-data providers. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "last updated" date.
