Frequently Asked Questions
How does the guided standing heart-rate test work?
Upright walks you through a standing heart-rate test (often called the NASA lean test). You rest lying or reclined for a few minutes, then stand while the app guides the timing and you record your heart rate. Upright calculates the change between your resting and standing heart rate and highlights a sustained rise of 30 bpm or more (the threshold clinicians commonly associate with POTS in adults). Results are saved to your history so you can share them with your doctor. The test is informational and is not a diagnosis.
How do I export the doctor-ready PDF report?
Open the report section and tap to generate your PDF. Upright builds the report on your device from your standing tests, salt & fluid intake, symptoms, and medications, then opens your device's share sheet so you can print it, save it, or send it to your doctor. The report is created locally — nothing is uploaded to us.
How do I track salt and fluids?
Log salt and fluid amounts with a couple of taps as you go through your day. Upright shows your progress toward your daily targets, which you can adjust in settings to match the plan you and your doctor have agreed on.
How do I set up medication reminders?
Add your medications — such as midodrine, fludrocortisone, or salt tablets — and set the times you take them. Upright will remind you so doses don't slip on a rough day. Reminders are scheduled locally on your device.
Where is my data stored? Is anything uploaded?
Upright is local-first. All of your health data — standing tests, salt & fluid logs, symptoms, medications, and notes — is stored only in a private database on your phone. There is no account and no cloud backend, and your health data never leaves your device. The only information that ever leaves your phone is purchase/subscription data needed to validate Upright Pro (handled by Apple, Google, and RevenueCat). See our Privacy Policy for full details.
How do I delete my data?
Because everything is stored on your device, you're in full control. You can delete individual entries in the app, clear the app's data from within the app or your device settings, or uninstall the app to permanently remove all of its locally stored data. There is no server-side copy for us to delete.
What does Upright Pro include, and what does it cost?
Upright's core tracking is free. Upright Pro unlocks the full experience, including complete history, advanced trends, and unlimited doctor-ready PDF reports. Plans are: Annual — $39.99/year with a 7-day free trial, Monthly — $6.99/month, and a one-time Lifetime — $79.99. Prices may vary by region and are shown in the app at purchase.
How do I manage or cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are billed through your App Store or Google Play account. On iOS: open the Settings app → tap your name → Subscriptions → Upright. On Android: open Google Play → tap your profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Upright. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. If you're on the free trial, cancel at least 24 hours before it ends to avoid being charged.
How do I restore my purchase on a new device?
Sign in with the same Apple ID or Google account you used to subscribe, open Upright, and use the "Restore Purchases" option in settings. Your Upright Pro entitlement will be restored.
Does Upright work offline?
Yes. Because your data lives on your device, logging, the standing test, reminders, and report generation all work without an internet connection. A connection is only needed to make or restore a purchase.
Is Upright a medical device or medical advice?
No. Upright is a self-tracking and organization tool that provides general information. It is not a medical device, does not diagnose any condition, and is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult your doctor, and if you think you're having a medical emergency, call your local emergency number immediately.
