The camera reads the ingredient panel itself, so store brands, imports and boutique products all work. The app infers the likely use and shows it — Looks like: cooking with heat — and one tap corrects it. Heated seed oil is not cold seed oil, and the research knows the difference.
Research in the Lens You Choose
Every flagged ingredient carries a plain-English claim, why it applies to this use, what would have to be true, the other side, and live sources. Claims are tiered — consensus, emerging, fringe — and you pick Mainstream, Cautious or Based. The app tells you how many claims a wider lens would add.

Those apps look a barcode up in a database and give you one score. Detox My Life reads any label by photo (store brands, imports, the bottle under the sink), tells you why each ingredient is flagged for the way you use it, sorts every claim into an evidence tier you can widen or narrow, shows the sources, and scores your whole home instead of one product — then gives you a plan.
What is the evidence lens?
Claims are tiered: consensus (regulators, systematic reviews, major bodies), emerging (peer-reviewed but contested or recent), and fringe (hypotheses and commentary, labelled as not consensus and always shown with the counter-evidence). Mainstream shows consensus only; Cautious adds emerging (the default); Based adds the fringe. The app always tells you how many claims a wider lens would add, and your Detox Score is computed under the lens you chose.
Is it medical advice?
No. Detox My Life presents research with sources and evidence tiers. It never diagnoses, never tells you to start or stop a medication, treatment, sunscreen or vaccine, and never says a product causes a disease in you. Talk to a qualified professional about your health.
Does it work offline?
Everything except the scan itself: the baseline, the score, your products, the plan, history and export are on your phone with no account. A scan sends the label photo to our scan service; if you're offline it's queued and nothing is used up.
What happens to my photo?
It is downscaled on your phone, sent to our scan service, read by the vision model and discarded. No image is stored on our servers. The only server-side record is an anonymous usage log you can delete from Settings.

Privacy First — Your Home Stays on the Phone
Here's exactly how it works:
- No account, no login. Your baseline, products, plan and history are stored only on your device.
- The photo is processed, not kept. A scan sends the label photo to our scan service, which reads it and discards it. No image is stored on our servers.
- One anonymous log, deletable in one tap. The only server-side record is a scan usage log keyed to a random installation identifier — delete it from Settings any time.
- No ads, no trackers, no affiliate links, no paid placements.
- Research, not medical advice. Every claim carries an evidence tier and a live source; fringe claims are labelled as not consensus and shown with the other side.
