Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get the most accurate body scan?

Stand 5–7 feet from a full-length mirror in good, even lighting. Wear fitted athletic clothing. Make sure your full body is visible in the frame. Set your height in the profile screen first — Axis uses it as a reference constant for measurement estimation.

Are my body photos uploaded anywhere?

No. Photos are stored locally in the app's sandboxed documents directory and are not backed up to the cloud. When you tap "Scan," the image is analyzed entirely on your device by an on-device AI model — it is never uploaded to Google or any server, and works even in airplane mode. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

How do I connect my Hevy account?

Open Settings → Integrations → Hevy. You'll be asked to paste your Hevy API key, which you can generate from api.hevyapp.com/settings?developer. Axis uses this key to sync both ways — it pulls your existing workout history and pushes workouts you log in Axis (and, optionally, your body measurements) back to Hevy. We never receive your Hevy password.

How do I log a workout in Axis?

Tap the workout tab to start a session, then add exercises from the 400+ exercise library (or create your own custom exercises) and record your sets and reps. Finished workouts sync to Hevy automatically if your account is connected. You can also use Quick Log to log a single set fast, with your favorite and most-recent exercises surfaced first.

What is Grease-the-Groove mode?

Grease-the-Groove (GtG) is a daily rolling-workout mode for people who log a few sets throughout the day rather than in one session. When enabled, Quick Log appends each set to a single rolling workout for that day, which Axis keeps in sync with Hevy.

Can I log workouts from my smartwatch?

Yes — Axis includes a Wear OS app for logging from your wrist. Pick a recent or favorite exercise, set the weight and reps, and log a set in a couple of taps; it's relayed to your phone, which records it in your daily workout and syncs to Hevy.

What is Axis Pro and what does it include?

Axis Pro unlocks unlimited AI body and food scans, the AI Coach, full Symmetry Lab analytics, and unlimited measurement history. A free tier is available with limited monthly scans.

How do I manage or cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are billed through your Apple ID. To manage or cancel, open the iOS Settings app → tap your name at the top → Subscriptions → Axis. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period.

How do I restore my purchase on a new device?

Sign in with the same Apple ID you used to subscribe, open Axis, and tap Settings → Restore Purchases.

How do I delete my data or account?

Open Settings → Account → Delete Account. This permanently removes all measurements, photos, and profile data from your device. If you've signed in, your authentication record is also deleted. There is no recovery after deletion.

Why does the AI sometimes give different measurements for similar photos?

AI vision estimates are sensitive to lighting, posture, camera angle, and clothing. For best consistency, scan at the same time of day, in the same spot, with the same pose. You can manually adjust any AI estimate before saving.

Does Axis work without an internet connection?

Mostly, yes. Manual measurement entry, history viewing, graphs, and AI body/food scans all work fully offline, because the AI runs on your device. Only Hevy sync and account sign-in need an internet connection.
