When emailing about a bug, please include your device model, iOS/Android version, and a short description of what you were doing when it happened. Screenshots help a lot. Please don't include sensitive details about your loved one you'd rather keep private — we don't need them to help, and your data stays on your device.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Anchorly, exactly?

Anchorly is a calm, dignified, local-first companion for anyone caring for someone living with dementia or Alzheimer's. You keep a fast daily log; decode sundowning and agitation; track medications; keep a person-centered life story any new carer can read; and check in on your own wellbeing. Steady days for them, support for you. Anchorly is a supportive companion, not medical advice and not a diagnosis.

How does the sundowning & agitation decoder (Pattern Keeper) work?

When a hard moment happens, you capture it as Trigger → Behavior → What helped in under 30 seconds — what set it off, what happened, and what eased it. Over time, the Pattern Keeper looks across your logs to surface patterns (for example, "agitation peaks 4–6pm — classic sundowning") with a time-of-day curve, a trigger ranking, and what tends to help. The deeper pattern insights are part of Anchorly+ and are computed entirely on your device.

What's the life story and calm card?

The life story is a person-centered "about them" — who they are, what they did, what lights them up, what to avoid — plus reminiscence prompts. The calm card is the list of what actually helps during agitation: favorite music, photos, phrases and routines, one tap away when it's hardest to think. Both keep who they are at the center, and any sitter, respite carer, or care home can read them.

Does Anchorly track medications?

Yes. You can set up a simple medication schedule with local "given?" reminders, and mark a dose given in a tap — no connected pill hardware to fail. The schedule and reminders are convenience tools only; always follow the prescribing professional's and pharmacy's instructions, and never rely on the App for a medical or medication decision.

How do I share with a sitter, the ER, or a care home (care-snapshot PDF)?

With Anchorly+, you can generate a one-page care-snapshot PDF — "about them + current needs + what helps" — for a sitter, a respite carer, the neurologist, the ER, or a memory-care move. It's created on your device and opened in your device's share sheet; nothing is uploaded to us. There's no backend and no broken "only the admin can see the notes" team account — you share the file yourself, however you like.

How does Anchorly support the caregiver?

Burnout is the real crisis, so Anchorly looks after you, too. A gentle daily check-in asks "how are you today?", and Anchorly+ adds wellbeing trends and respite nudges that spot burnout signs and suggest a break. The caregiver is the anchor — your wellbeing matters.

Where is my data stored? Is anything uploaded?

Anchorly is local-first. All of your data — profiles, daily logs, decoder records, medications, the life story, the calm card, check-ins, and reports — is stored only in a private database on your phone. There is no account and no cloud backend, and your loved one's information never leaves your device. The only information that ever leaves your phone is purchase/subscription data needed to validate Anchorly+ (handled by Apple, Google, and RevenueCat). See our Privacy Policy for full details.

How does the on-device AI weekly digest work, and what's the download?

The Anchorly+ weekly digest turns your own logs into a plain-language read on "what made this week hard vs steady" — non-diagnostic and grounded in your data. It runs a small language model (flutter_gemma / Gemma 3 1B) entirely on your phone. To keep the app's install size small, the model isn't bundled; it's downloaded only if you opt in the first time you use the feature. After that it works offline, and your loved one's information is never sent anywhere to produce the digest. On devices that can't run the model, the feature is simply hidden and the rest of the app is unaffected.

How do I export or back up my data?

You can export your data and create a local backup from within the app (CSV/PDF), then save or share the file yourself. Because everything lives on your device, keeping your own backup is the best way to move to a new phone or recover after a reset.

How do I delete my data?

Because everything is stored on your device, you're in full control. You can delete individual entries in the app, clear the app's data from within the app or your device settings, or uninstall the app to permanently remove all of its locally stored data. There is no server-side copy for us to delete.

What does Anchorly+ include, and what does it cost?

Anchorly's core daily log, decoder, life story, and caregiver check-in are free forever — no card needed to explore. Anchorly+ adds sundowning pattern insights, the care-snapshot PDF, the on-device AI weekly digest, caregiver wellbeing trends, and unlimited history and loved ones. Plans are: Monthly — $3.99/month, Annual — $19.99/year (recommended, about $1.67/month), and a one-time Lifetime — $39.99. All three unlock the same features. Prices may vary by region and are shown in the app at purchase.

How do I manage or cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are billed through your App Store or Google Play account — we can't trap you. On iOS: open the Settings app → tap your name → Subscriptions → Anchorly. On Android: open Google Play → tap your profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Anchorly. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. (The Lifetime purchase is one-time and never renews.)

How do I restore my purchase on a new device?

Sign in with the same Apple ID or Google account you used to purchase, open Anchorly, and use the "Restore Purchases" option in settings. Your Anchorly+ entitlement will be restored. (Note: your logs are stored locally, so to move your data to a new device, use the in-app export/backup.)

Does Anchorly work offline?

Yes. Because your data lives on your device, the daily log, the decoder, medications, the life story, the calm card, and report generation all work without an internet connection — and the app opens instantly with no login and no eternal loading screen. A connection is only needed to make or restore a purchase, or for the one-time on-device AI model download if you opt in.

Is Anchorly medical advice or a diagnosis?

No. Anchorly is a supportive companion that organizes and reminds. It does not diagnose dementia, Alzheimer's, or any other condition, does not provide therapy, and is not a substitute for professional medical, nursing, psychological, or social-care advice. Always follow your care team's guidance, and if you think your loved one is in danger or having a medical emergency, call your local emergency number immediately.
