Mokume is a local-first bonsai care journal and multi-year development companion for the serious-but-approachable keeper. Catalog unlimited trees, log real bonsai work in a tap or two, follow a multi-year Tree Story photo timeline, and unlock a species-aware seasonal work calendar that keys actual tasks to species class, hemisphere, and season. There is no account and no server, so your trees never leave the phone and can't be silently wiped on an update, a new phone, or a login that fails.

The Add button is always present and full-featured. Field-collected yamadori, nursery stock, mallsai rescues, and rare species are never rejected — add any tree by hand in seconds, with a photo as an optional attachment. Trees are unlimited and free, forever — collection size is never paywalled.

Most apps are a generic watering alarm. Mokume is a true bonsai work calendar: a rule-based task engine for repot, wire/unwire, structural & maintenance prune, defoliate, fertilize by development stage, and candle-pinch — keyed to species class × hemisphere × month. Privacy First — Your Trees Stay on the Phone
Mokume is built local-first. Here's exactly how it works:
- No account, no cloud, no server. You don't sign up or log in. There is no backend that receives your data — nothing to leak and nothing to fail on an update or a new phone.
- Your collection never leaves the device. Trees, work entries, photos, and notes are stored only in a local database (SQLite) on your phone.
- Permanence is the promise. Your record is yours — Mokume gives you one-tap CSV export that you save and share yourself. Export is free for everyone — never a Pro upsell.
- Insights are deterministic and on-device. The seasonal work calendar and weekly digest are a rule-based, pure-Dart engine. There is no LLM, no AI model, no model download, and no network or key — identical input gives identical output.
- One billing helper. The only data that ever leaves your phone is purchase/subscription data, handled by Apple, Google, and RevenueCat to validate Mokume Pro. They never receive your collection data.
