No. There is no account and no login, so there is nothing to sign up for, and no backend receives your collection. Your collection is stored only on your device. The only data that leaves the phone is purchase data handled by Apple, Google, and RevenueCat to validate an Ashbook+ purchase and, if you use Invite a friend on Android, an invite code with an anonymous install id.
Does Ashbook monitor humidor humidity automatically?
Ashbook tracks the RH and temperature readings you record for each humidor over time, then shows whether each humidor is ideal, too dry, or too wet against your target, prompts a check when the last reading is stale, can remind you when a reading is stale or off target, and shows a capacity gauge that counts sticks. The readings come from your own hygrometer, entered in the app.
Can I add boutique, Cuban, or second-hand cigars that are not in a database?
Yes. The Add button is always present and full-featured, and no cigar is ever rejected. You can enter any cigar by hand with brand, line, vitola, ring gauge, length, wrapper, country, quantity, price paid, where bought, box code, notes, and a resting-since date.
Does Ashbook use AI to generate its insights?
No. Drift status, aging status, collection value, your palate profile, and flavor affinities are all deterministic, rule-based logic that runs entirely on your device. There is no language model, no AI model, and no model download, and these features need no network connection and no API key.
How do I delete my Ashbook data?
Because everything is stored only on your device, you control it directly. Delete individual entries in the app, clear the app's data, or uninstall Ashbook to permanently remove all of its locally stored data. There is no server-side copy to delete and no account to close.

Ashbook is built local-first. Here's exactly how it works:
- No account, no cloud. You don't sign up or log in. No backend receives your collection — nothing to leak and nothing to fail on an update or a new phone.
- Your collection never leaves the device. Cigars, humidors, climate readings, tasting notes, and value/manifest data are stored only in a local database (SQLite) on your phone.
- Permanence is the promise. Ashbook auto-backs-up on-device and gives you one-tap export/restore (JSON) that you save and share yourself. Backup is free for everyone — never a Pro upsell.
- Insights are deterministic and on-device. Drift status, aging status, palate profile, and flavor affinities are rule-based on-device logic. There is no LLM, no AI model, no model download, and no network or key — identical input gives identical output.
- One billing helper. Purchase data goes to Apple, Google, and RevenueCat to validate Ashbook+, and, if you use Invite a friend on Android, an invite code with an anonymous install id goes to our invite service. Neither receives your collection data.
