Combwise

Logged in the yard. Owned forever.

The Offline Beekeeping Logbook That Tells You What to Do Next

Combwise is an offline-first beekeeping app and hive inspection logbook built for the bee yard, where there is often no signal and no patience for a login. Log fast, glove-friendly inspections, get deterministic "what to check next" guidance, track treatments with a honey-withdrawal countdown, and export PDF inspection records — on an apiary that lives on your phone, backs itself up, and exports as open files you own. There is no account and no server, so your records can never be silently wiped on an update, a new phone, or a dropped connection in the field.

What it does:

  • Apiary tracker — unlimited yards and hives, per-yard / per-hive structure, queen age, and strength at a glance
  • Fast hive inspections (Yard Mode) — big-tap capture of brood & stores frames, eggs/queen seen, temperament, supers, swarm cells, and varroa mite count, fully back-datable
  • Next Actions engine — deterministic, on-device guidance: requeen, treat now, swarm risk, possible queen loss, feed for winter
  • Treatment & honey-withdrawal tracker — log Apivar/oxalic/etc. with an automatic withdrawal countdown so you never harvest contaminated honey
  • Owned backup & records — un-loseable on-device backup, open JSON/CSV export, and tap-to-PDF inspection records for inspectors, clubs, and buyers
  • Offline & local-first — no account, no cloud; your apiary never leaves the phone and is never silently lost

Coming soon to the App Store and Google Play.

Records, not regulatory advice. Combwise organizes your hive records and surfaces rule-of-thumb prompts; it does not replace a bee inspector, veterinarian, or product label. Treatment withdrawal countdowns are guidance only — always follow the product label and the laws that apply where you keep bees.

How It Works

🐝 Glove-Friendly Yard Mode

Inspections that work at the hive, not at a desk. Big-tap, high-contrast, sun-readable capture of brood and stores frames, eggs and queen seen, temperament, supers, swarm cells, and varroa mite count — back-datable so you can write up yesterday's visit. The fast hive inspection logbook a working beekeeper actually keeps.

🧭 Next Actions — Deterministic Guidance

Most apps are just lists. Combwise reads your own logs and ranks what to do: queen over two years → requeen; mite count over threshold → treat now; eight brood frames with swarm cells → swarm risk, add a super; two visits with no eggs → possible queen loss; low autumn stores → feed for winter. Rule-based and on-device — no AI, no cloud.

🧪 Treatment & Honey-Withdrawal Tracker

A missed treatment can mean a dead colony — and harvesting too soon can mean contaminated honey. Log Apivar, oxalic, Formic Pro, and the rest with an automatic withdrawal-period countdown and a "do not harvest until" date, so the honey you pull is clean.

📄 Tap-to-PDF Records & Vitals Charts

Records you own and can hand over. Export clean per-hive or whole-apiary PDF inspection records for bee inspectors, clubs, and nuc-and-colony buyers, and watch strength, brood, mite-load, and harvest-weight trends across seasons in real counts, not percentages.

🔔 Reliable Local Reminders

Reminders that fire because they live on the phone, not a server that times out in a dead spot. Set on-device inspection and treatment reminders — swarm checks, re-treats, feeding — and trust them even when the yard has no signal at all.

🔒 Private & Local-First

No account, no login, no cloud. Every yard, hive, inspection, treatment, and note lives in a local database on your phone, with automatic on-device backup and one-tap open JSON/CSV export. Your apiary never leaves the device — and backup is free for everyone, never paywalled.
