LuminaKeys ("the App") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.
1. Information We Collect
Device Information
When you first launch LuminaKeys, we may collect limited device information only to:
- Detect your connected MIDI keyboard type and model
- Enable Bluetooth/USB MIDI connectivity
- Optimize app performance for your device
We DO NOT store or transmit this information to external servers.
MIDI Song Data
All songs created in LuminaKeys—whether generated by AI or manually created—are stored exclusively on your device in a local SQLite database. This includes:
- MIDI file content and metadata
- Song titles, descriptions, and custom notes
- Generated music variations
- User-created compositions
Your songs are never uploaded to our servers unless you explicitly choose to export or share them.
AI Song Generation (Optional)
If you use the AI song generation feature:
- Your prompt text is sent to our AI service (powered by Anthropic Claude or Google Gemini)
- The generated MIDI file is returned to your device and stored locally
- Prompts are processed with standard data protection and are not stored on our servers after generation
- You can disable AI features and use the app entirely offline with the song library
2. How We Use Your Information
We use collected information only for the following purposes:
- Keyboard Detection: To identify your MIDI keyboard model and send the correct protocol
- Light Guide Sync: To control keyboard lighting in real-time during playback
- AI Song Generation: To process your prompts and generate MIDI compositions
- App Performance: To optimize app stability, speed, and feature responsiveness
We do NOT:
- Sell or share your data with third parties
- Use your music compositions for training AI models
- Track your usage patterns or app activity
- Display ads or collect behavioral analytics
- Require account creation or cloud synchronization
3. Data Storage & Retention
Local Storage: All your songs, settings, and MIDI data are stored securely on your device using encrypted local storage.
Backup: When you export a song, you create a backup file that you control completely. We do not retain copies.
Deletion: You can delete any song or clear all app data at any time through the app settings. This immediately removes all traces from your device.
4. Third-Party Services
AI Provider (Conditional): If you enable AI song generation, your prompts are sent to:
- Anthropic Claude API or Google Gemini API (based on your selection)
- These services process your prompt to generate MIDI data
- Refer to their privacy policies for how they handle data
MIDI Keyboard Manufacturer: LuminaKeys communicates directly with your hardware over Bluetooth or USB. No manufacturer data is collected or shared by us.
We do NOT use:**
- Google Analytics or similar tracking libraries
- Firebase or other remote logging services
- Ad networks or attribution services
- Social media SDKs
5. Children's Privacy
LuminaKeys is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, we will immediately delete such information and terminate the child's account.
6. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:
- Encrypted local storage for all MIDI files and settings
- Secure communication protocols (TLS/HTTPS) for API calls
- No cloud storage of sensitive data
- Regular security audits and updates
While we strive to protect your information, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. If you believe your data has been compromised, please contact us immediately.
7. Your Rights & Control
You have the following rights regarding your data:
- Access: View all your stored songs and app data
- Export: Export your songs as MIDI files for use in other apps
- Delete: Delete individual songs or all app data at any time
- Opt-Out: Disable AI features to use LuminaKeys completely offline
- No Tracking: Your usage is never tracked or analyzed
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the updated policy in the app with an updated "Last Updated" date.
